Successful iris gardens are not accidental. They are the results of planning, constant care, hard work, and the will to make things grow. Here at Roberts Backyard we use a large amount of organic matter in the form of old cow and horse manure. These build up the soil and add needed nutrients for healthier iris growth. The improvements to the soil with abundant amounts of manure and/or organic materials has been the greatest importance to my success as a backyard iris grower and hybridizer. I hope you enjoy the following pages and that it will help you grow the most plentiful, colorful, and healthiest irises around in your backyard.
